about
Established in 2014.
My name is Garrett I am the owner of Clover Canine. I was raised working with dogs and horses, which led to a passion for training my own dogs for obedience and then competition. This appreciation of the human-animal bond led to my employment as a dog trainer at one of the top training facilities in the country where I had the opportunity to work with 100's of dogs of all breeds and temperaments. For the past 4 years I have been working privately with clients both here in Phoenix and in Flagstaff helping people build meaningful relationships with their dogs. Now I have opened a facility dedicated to training dogs. Clover Canine is here to support the needs of the community and their furry family members.
Whether just boarding or enrolled in bootcamp you can rest assured your best friend is in good hands. Through gentle guidance and positive reinforcement in our structured environment we strive to exceed the expectations of our client.

Training
about our Board and train camps
Here at Clover Canine, we believe that training a dog takes time, patience, and lots of love! Our program is designed with all of that in mind. During the camp your dog is trained in a facility that is built around the owner, Garrett Murphy’s home. It is a loving and very realistic environment that replicates most everyday activities. At the start of the camp, we provide your pup with a few days to adjust to being in a new environment and around new people. It’s important to us that we build a relationship and trust with each dog that we train. We take the best pieces of all the training philosophy’s and use them to create a well- trained dog that doesn’t behave just because they know they need to but are also quite happy to do so! Our proven balanced training method provides a clear picture of what is expected of your pup. We achieve this through an emphasis on proper communication and positive reinforcement. The base of the camp is the same, but every single dog is different, so we do customize each camp depending on the needs of the owner and the dog. During the camp your dog will also have the chance to take multiple outings to parks, restaurants, stores (Home Depot and anywhere dog friendly), and on the hiking trail near us to re-enforce their training in the real world. There are a few different ways we help to ensure that the training on your dog sticks. We provide private lessons for the owner(s) while your dog is with us. In addition, we offer private lessons after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lessons within the first month for best results. Should you have any other issues with your furry friend we are here to answer any questions for the life of your dog!
2-week camp
Our 2-week camp teaches all the basics of Heel, Sit, Down, Stay, and Come. We provide a private lesson for the owner(s) at the end of the camp, which is also pick-up day. In addition, we offer a hour-long private lesson after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lesson within the first month for best results. Should you have any other issues with your furry friend we are here to answer any questions for the life of your dog! Included in this program: 2 private lessons, training prong collar, handmade 6-ft leather leash and baths. (place command, place bed, and e-collar not included in this camp).
3-week camp
We provide 2 private lessons for the owner(s) while your dog is with us that occur at the end of week 2 and the end of week 3, which is also pick-up day. In addition, we offer a hour-long private lesson after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lesson within the first month for best results. Should you have any other issues with your furry friend we are here to answer any questions for the life of your dog! Included in this program: 2 private lessons at the facility, a hour-long private lesson after your dog goes home, training prong collar, e-collar, place bed, handmade 6-ft leather leash and baths.
4-5 week Off-leash e-collar program
Over the course of the e-collar camp, we slowly introduce the dogs to what an e-collar is to create off-leash reliability in your dog. This camp is a flat rate for the 4 weeks. On occasion, we might end up needing a few extra days with them. We will absolutely communicate that with you, and we will not charge you for those extra days. We provide 2 private lessons for the owner(s) while your dog is with us that typically occur at the end of week 3 and the end of week 4. On that last lesson we are more than happy to bring your pup to you and preform the lesson in your home. In addition, we offer 2 one hour-long private lessons after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lessons within the first month for best results. Included in this program: 2 private lessons during the camp (one at the facility and one in- home), 2 hour-long private lesson after your dog goes home, training prong collar, e-collar, place bed, handmade 6-ft leather leash and baths.
Puppy prep program
The Puppy Prep Program is a 2 part program. The first part in training your new puppy is a 2 week stay with us. In these first 2 weeks we focus on teaching your puppy the basic muscle memory for each command using lots of food, luring and fun games! All of the commands that have been taught will then be re-enforced and perfected later on when they come back for the second part of the program, which is the 3-week stay with us. During this part of the program we start talking them out into public to re-enforce their training in the real world. They also get crate training, potty training, socialization with other puppies and lots of love while they’re here!
Private lessons
$100/lesson at facility
$150/in home lesson
Sessions are generally held at the facility where we can work on basic obedience and specific problems that may need solving, as well as advanced instruction. Private lessons can also be held in public places or in your own home if that is what is needed for you and your dog.
Group Classes (AKC CGC and Beginner)- $250
AKC(American Kennel Club) CGC (Canine Good Citizen): The AKC CGC is a two-part program designed to 1.) teach responsible dog ownership to owners and 2.) certify dogs that have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well behaved members of their families and communities. This is a six-week course with one class weekly, all culminating in the AKC CGC test on week six. During the class, we train through the behaviors needed to pass the test, providing guidance on dog handling skills and training exercises necessary for testing. Throughout this class, we provide a comfortable learning environment for both dog and handler, all students are encouraged to engage and ask questions throughout the class. After passing the test students are issued an official AKC CGC title for their dog. This title proves that handlers have made the effort and followed through with training, teaching their dogs proper etiquette in a public setting.
Beginner Classes: This is a 6-week course that consists of one 1-hour long class a week. Our beginner class teaches the basic, common commands such as: Heel, Sit, Down, Stay, Come. Along with these common commands, we teach our students key concepts of Dog Training Theory. The group class setting provides students the opportunity to train around a variety of distractions as well. This education gives you the tools to build a valuable and engaging relationship with your furry family member.

I am a first time dog owner. I have always been a self described 'cat' lady. When my two beloved kitties passed away 2 months apart I became seriously depressed. My internal medicine doctor strongly recommended my getting a dog. A DOG!!! I don't know ANYTHING about dogs!!!
Along came Garrett and Clover Canine. My groomer recommended me to Garrett and I will be forever grateful! My dog is an overly exzuberant 60 lb. Goldendoodle. He was totally impossible for me to handle. Getting in an out of the car was a nightmare! Walks were out of the question....he walked me!! Now my 'Jo' is a complete delight! He walks great and heels! I think he is proud too! Garrett was so patient with both of us! ( I needed training too)!!! Now I have the confidence and knowledge to be a good dog owner of a very well trained dog thanks to Garrett and his hard work and patience!!
Best of all...you can go back anytime! Garrett offers over night boarding and includes refresher training with your stay!!! You can go away and come home confident that your dog will be happy, well cared for and better behaved! It is such a peace of mind for me to know I have a forever place to keep my dog during trips.
Thank you for everything you do Garrett!!

Best dog trainer ever! I call Garrett the Cesar of Anthem. I have an almost 3 yo 120 lb. American Bulldog. I took him to puppy training in Flagstaff around 3 months old. Raji passed kindergarten and elementary school and learned a few basics. BUT I still couldn't walk him without it being a pull fest. I heard about Garrett, met with him and saw how great he was with my dog and how good my dog was with him. He obviously loves and understands dog mentality. At the time Raji was around 6 months old so I opted to do the 3 week boot camp as I live around 100 miles away. Amazing results! Raji still remembers his commands and I can walk him with no pulling or stress. I back the forest and the other day we startled a baby elk out. I told my dog "stay" and he barely looked at the elk, and this is over two years since training.
I am so glad Garrett is doing traditional boarding now too. Clover Canine's facilities are new, clean, air conditioned and they have 5 acres. I can now drop off my dog on the way to Sky Harbor and pick him up on the way home. It's so funny, when I get off the freeway Raji gets super excited, he knows we are going to Canine Camp!
It is worth it to drive the distance to train and board my dog with someone I trust with his life.

Clover Canine is AMAZING. Garrett is so attentive and loving to all the animals. I recently suffered a huge tragedy in my family and this facility has been a life saver. I've been through the ringer but Garrett has been accommodating, understanding and most important, loving to my puppy! The facility is amazing and I encourage anyone looking for someone to watch their pet to bring them here. Your furry friend will not only be loved but also will leave with some good training skills.

After working with the owner for a couple of sessions, I decided to do the 3week boot camp. There isn't anyone I would trust more, than Clover Canine with my Dog. The facility is super nice with excellent A/C. Garrett truly loves working with dogs and uses positive re-enforcment with successful results. He is resilient, yet patient and easy going. He really cares about the end result. My dog is now better behaved, walks by my side and listens to commands. Garrett provides excellent information, even helps out in-between sessions via text or phone call. It is like magic watching Garrett work! He seems to really know how to communicate with her and gets her excited about learning new commands.
